Review localized AI creatives for meaning and cultural context

Approve each localized creative on its own meaning, imagery and claims. A fluent translation can still create the wrong promise or cultural impression.

Review each localized AI creative as a new audience-facing message, not simply a translated script. Check what people will understand from its words, imagery and claims together. The following review method is editorial advice and does not assume any platform has translation or cultural-review capabilities.

Define the audience precisely

Replace “Indian audience” with a usable brief: language, region, age range, viewing context and familiarity with the subject. A Hindi-speaking college audience and a Marathi-speaking group attending a workplace induction may need different explanations, even when the underlying message is identical.

Specify whether the deliverable uses a regional language, English or code-switching. Name a language reviewer and a separate person responsible for approving factual claims. Fluency alone should not be treated as authority to expand a commercial promise.

Build a localization review card

For each scene, record:

  • Original meaning in plain English, including qualifications.
  • Localized wording and a plain-language back-translation.
  • Idiom or joke and its intended effect.
  • Imagery, gesture, clothing or symbol requiring contextual review.
  • Claim, supporting material and approval owner.
  • Audience reviewer’s concern and agreed revision.

Ask whether a visual implies endorsement, religious association or social status that the brief did not intend. These are review questions, not declarations that a particular symbol is universally inappropriate.

Keep regional disagreements visible. Where reviewers interpret a phrase differently, record the alternatives rather than silently choosing the most enthusiastic response.

Test a hypothetical Hindi adaptation

Hypothetical example: a fictional learning campaign uses “Get ahead at your own pace.” A Hindi draft reads “सफलता की गारंटी,” which means “guarantee of success.” The review should reject that change because it introduces a guarantee absent from the original.

A possible alternative, “अपनी गति से सीखें,” means “learn at your own pace.” Ask the intended audience reviewer whether that wording fits the scene and tone; do not treat it as a universal translation.

Evaluate the complete 15-second creative for preserved uncertainty, understandable vocabulary and imagery consistent with the message. A correct sentence cannot repair a contradictory visual.

Separate cultural approval from policy screening

Stop if a localized version adds a claim or unresolved cultural implication. Next, revise it and obtain fresh language and claim approvals.

Runway says its usage policy works with its terms to mitigate harm and uses automated systems and internal human review to detect and block harmful inputs and outputs. That does not establish cultural suitability.

When comparing access options in the AI tools catalog, check access format and save offer terms before buying. Marketplace account/code/token offers are not proof of official subscription equivalence.
