Before relying on an AI service for ongoing work, verify who controls access, which billing system funds the work and what evidence supports retrieval and cancellation arrangements. Mark unsupported capabilities unknown instead of assuming portability.
Establish what the service actually contains
Lovable documents a project as one app within a workspace, with a single project owner. Project content includes chat, preview, code, version history and settings, and edits are saved automatically to version history.
These facts help identify the object requiring stewardship. They do not establish an export method, a transfer mechanism or uninterrupted access after cancellation. An Indian freelancer handing work to a client should distinguish “the project exists” from “the client can continue operating it independently”.
Separate access continuity from billing continuity
OpenAI states that ChatGPT and the API platform have separate billing systems. API credits are separate from a ChatGPT subscription and its in-product credit balances.
Accordingly, record the exact service being funded rather than writing “OpenAI paid” in a handover note. This documentation does not establish that either service will cover an unrelated workflow or marketplace offer.
As editorial practice, keep technical ownership, purchasing responsibility and renewal approval as separate fields, even when one person currently fills all three roles.
Use a continuity evidence questionnaire
For each dependency, ask:
- Who is the named owner and backup contact?
- Which organisation controls the relevant account?
- Which billing system or purchasing agreement applies?
- What evidence explains renewal and cancellation?
- Which project materials must remain available?
- Is retrieval documented for those specific materials?
- What is unknown about formats, completeness or timing?
- What manual fallback is available if access stops?
Record the evidence date, responsible reviewer and next verification action beside every answer. Do not store passwords, tokens or customer content in the questionnaire. For privacy, ask who may access retained material and what policy needs review; do not assume permission.
Apply a hypothetical continuity gate
Suppose a fictional Kochi consultancy needs weekly internal reports for eight weeks. Its questionnaire confirms a named project owner and the applicable billing system, but retrieval of essential working material remains unverified.
Classify the service as conditionally usable only if the team can complete the reports through an approved fallback. Otherwise, stop making it the sole dependency until retrieval evidence or a workable alternative exists. Automatic version history is not a substitute for that evidence.
If evaluating replacement access, consult the AI tools catalog and check access format and saved terms before buying. Marketplace account, code or token offers are not proof of official subscription equivalence.
Sources and scope
Source material checked 29 October 2026; features/policies may change. Lovable project overview establishes project structure and saved edits. OpenAI billing guidance establishes separate billing systems. The questionnaire and continuity gate are editorial advice, not portability promises.
